Is there an established Discipline Code for HMS?
Every student is issued a Darlington County Discipline Code booklet at the beginning of the school year. The booklet gives detailed information concerning appropriate behavior and the consequences for choosing inappropriate behavior.

Who deals with discipline problems at HMS?
The teacher in the classroom handles most behaviors requiring discipline. The teacher can refer the child to the appropriate administrator.

What if the behavior problem cannot be corrected in the classroom?
Disruptive students are sent out of the classroom directly to the principal or assistant principal. He/She then decides on a plan of intervention, to include phoning the parent, or sending the child to the in-school suspension program, or sending the child home.
